The Coronavirus Slump: Prosperity, rentier capitalism, and its alternatives

GUY STANDING
e-Salon / Mon 25 May  / 7 - 8.45 PM

About a decade ago Guy Standing popularised a new concept: 'the precariat'. Having now lost any connotation of novelty, it expresses all too well the condition of chronic economic insecurity and the growing anger of the new global social underclass. As the Covid-19 crisis is making clear, new responses to age old economic questions are on the table. As more and more countries start to look at basic income as a way out of recession Guy Standing examines the prospects for extraordinary change in extraordinary times.

This e-salon is a free event but we suggest a contribution of 20-25€.
