Susan George has a worldwide reputation as a trenchant critic of capitalist globalisation and as an activist for social justice. Come and hear her speak her mind about what’s gone wrong and how we can fix it.
Described as ‘a searing analysis of a system in crisis’ by John Palmer, the Lugano Report II is Susan George’s follow up to her report of the same name published 16 years earlier that foresaw in some detail ‘the near collapse of the world banking system in 2007 and a looming global warming catastrophe as well as warning of the emergence of a super rich ruling class throughout much of the capitalist world’.
ABOUT
Susan George is President of the board of TNI (the Transnational Institute), a worldwide fellowship of scholar activists. George is one of TNI’s most renowned fellows for her long-term and ground-breaking analysis of global issues. Her most recent work published last week is “How to win the Class War – The Lugano Report II”. Described by John Palmer as ‘a searing analysis of a system in crisis’ it is the newest of her sixteen widely translated books. She describes her work in a cogent way that has come to define TNI: “The job of the responsible social scientist is first to uncover these forces [of wealth, power and control], to write about them clearly, without jargon… and finally to take an advocacy position in favour of the disadvantaged, the underdogs, the victims of injustice.”
Her areas of expertise are: European Union reform; European trade policy; Debt and International Financial Institutions; Alternatives to Corporate Globalisation; Currency Transaction Tax; Food Security; International Trade.
Susan George is a frequent interviewee in print, radio and television and regularly contributes articles to Le Monde diplomatique, Open Democracy, El Pais, New Internationalist and The Nation.
