Raves, riots, revolutions. Music has often been used to unsettle the most fundamental political and social conventions, to challenge the status-quo, but also as a tool for manipulation and propaganda. What makes music so powerful? And whose interests does it serve? After years of touring, playing and protesting, Dave Randall makes the case for music and social change. From Beethoven to Beyoncé, from the Glastonbury Festival to the Arab Spring, Pop Idol to Trinidadian Carnival, Schoenberg to Skrillex, he finds political inspiration across the musical world and poses a daring question: how can we make music serve the interest of the many rather than the few? Join the conversation.
