The politics of migration has led us to feel in a state of perennial crisis, one that has been crushing trust in institutions from the local to the European level. But are we truly living a migration crisis? What does even the word crisis mean in the field of migration, and are there sensible solutions out there to regain trust of the public and heal our societies? Join Giulio Di Blasi as he discusses the key issues of his field of work and action in the past ten years, going from crisis to crisis, looking for a silver lining.
Giulio Di Blasi is Europe Director of the Refugee Hub – GRSI, where he engages with European States and Institutions to expand sponsorship solutions across Europe. Previously, he was Member of the Cabinet of the HR / VP for Foreign Affairs of the European Union, Federica Mogherini, responsible for migration and human rights issues. And before that, he headed the Team for the implementation of Hotspots in Italy and Greece at the European Commission, and worked in the humanitarian NGOs sector focusing on the Middle East and East Africa with a focus on refugee management and human displacement.
